The Rajiv Mahajan Awards Ceremony
February 3, 2016 (Wednesday)
The Rajiv Mahajan Awards were instituted at St. Stephen's in the year 2001 in Rajiv's memory by his parents Mr. and Mrs. N.M. Mahajan. Rajiv was a promising young lad of 25 years when he fell prey to the cruel stroke of destiny on April 27, 1984. His loss has left a void in our hearts. Mr. Carver, our Director Principal had accepted the offer to institute the awards in Rajiv's memory with alacrity. Since then every year, four awards are conferred upon four outstanding students.
The Award ceremony commenced on February 3, 2016 with a hymn sung by the school choir and the two school prayers by the school captains, Arjun Mittal and Anjan Bhattal. The Headmaster, Mr. Louis Lopez offered a special prayer on this occasion. The ceremony was conducted by Ms. Vandita Dharni who highlighted the achievements of our outstanding young talents. The awards were as follows:
1. Best All Rounder Boy - Arjun Mittal
2. Best All Rounder Girl - Rabustat Ahluwalia
3. Best Sportsperson Boy- Neeraj Yashpaul (Tennis)
4. Best Sportsperson Girl- Aditi Pandey (Gymnastics)
The Awards recognise students who have not only excelled in their academic pursuits but also developed all-round skills and attained remarkable achievements in the domains they have a strong passion for or are talented at. Our gratitude goes to the parents and teachers for the concerted efforts and support in enhancing the talents of these young children here today, in grooming them for future leadership, and most of all, in raising these fine young persons with wisdom and the right values.
We congratulate all the award winners on their outstanding achievements. We have no doubt that each one of them will excel in their future roles as well. It is important to always bear in mind that the key to success in life is not to get ahead of other people, but to get ahead of ourselves.
