Celebration of International Day of Girl child 2015-10-12
St. Stephen's School conducted a special Assembly along with Yuvsatta & Garden of Hope Foundation, on October 12, 2015 for the celebration of International Day of the Girl child. The theme was ‘The Power of the Adolescent girl (:Vision for 2030, girl came and picked turban Pink color represents compassion, nurturing and love) .It relates unconditional love and understanding and the giving and receiving of nurturning. In color psychology pink is sign of hope.
The morning assembly began with a beautiful song ‘We shall over come…' followed by the two school prayers. A special prayer was said by the Headmaster for the speedy recovery of the members who are ailing.
Vyapak highlighted some points on the rights and the unique challenges which a girl faces. He said that adolescent girls have the right to a safe, educated and healthy life, not only during these critical format years, but also as they mature into women. Anjan read out a poem on the importance of girl child stating that the girls have the potential to change the world.
Kavya read out a beautiful poem in Hindi. An investment in realizing the power of adolescent girls upholds their rights today and promises a more equitable and prosperous future, one in which half of humanity is an equal partner in solving the problems of climate change, political conflict, economic growth, disease prevention, and global sustainability.
