ENERGY CONSERVATION DAY AT ST.STEPHEN'S 2013-12-14
Interact Club and Eco-Club in collaboration with 'Sapling Care' (an NGO).celebrated energy conservation Day at St.Stephen's School, Chandigarh.
A healthy interactive session was conducted on the Energy Conservation Day (14 December) in which not only the students but also the support staff had a good time increasing their knowledge on the importance of saving energy ,which is depleting at a rapid pace .
We had a good time quizzing ,painting competition and slogan writing competition was organised and we discussed different issues-the striking one being on how to save energy.
Some valuable information/facts that were discussed during the session are listed:
1.Laptops ,for instance ,consume much less energy than desktops and are more energy efficient.Switching from a desktop to a laptop can reduce an individual's annual carbon dioxide emissions between 205 kg to 279 kg.
2.When you choose to walk in a garden or a park for a couple of hours everyday instead of watching t.v /computer,you benefit the planet's health .By making this choice you prevent the emission of 62-93 kg of carbon dioxide annually.
3 Use an led table lamp instead of an incandescent light bulb while studying provides more effective lighting .It also benefits our environment by reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 57 kg annually.
4.Always remember 3 R'S for Sustainable development -Reduce Recycle and Reuse .
5. Use day light as far as possible in office and house as it is not only available free of cost but also good for our health.
There were some difficult puzzles to solve which really forced our brains to drain out all the knowledge that we possess.
The support staff had a wonderful time interacting with the N.G.O and making best of the useful time.
The gifts and refreshments were distributed as a token of love and students actively participated in making this event get an overwhelming response from all the present people.Such interactive sessions will really help in making this earth (a beautiful planet worth living).
