Lamp of Knowledge (30th and 31st January 2025) 2025-01-30
Education is the spark that sets the flame of knowledge ablaze, dispelling the darkness of ignorance and illuminating the path to growth and self-discovery. As the wise saying goes, "If you have Knowledge, let others light their candles in it."
At St. Stephen's School, this profound philosophy is brought to life through the poignant ceremony of the Lamp of Knowledge. This revered tradition was first kindled by our Director, Mr. Harold Carver, driven by his conviction that education is the key to satiating humanity's innate thirst for growth.
The ceremony is a beautiful expression of the school's commitment to fostering a culture of learning, wisdom, and self-illumination. As the Class 10 students pass the lamp of knowledge to their junior counterparts, they symbolically transfer the responsibility of pursuing knowledge, wisdom, and enlightenment.
The lighting of the lamp is a powerful metaphor for the triumph of knowledge over ignorance. As the flame flickers, it creates a conducive environment for learning and growth, inspiring young minds to embark on a lifelong journey of discovery.
Our Principal, Mr. Barry Francis, and Vice Principal, Mr. John Xavier, eloquently captured the essence of this momentous occasion, highlighting the remarkable journey of each Class 10 student as they passed on the lamp of knowledge to the Class 9 students.
As the ceremony drew to a close, the atmosphere was filled with promise and anticipation, as the students, teachers, and staff looked forward to another year of growth, learning, and illumination.
