Sports Day is an occasion where pupils, teachers and parents come together for a day of competitive sport. The real importance of Sports Day in school is what it does for the spirits and camaraderie of the school community. Team sports are known to encourage a healthy level of competition and also bonding in teams as they work together to achieve a goal. It is a great time for students to practice supporting each other through both successes and failures.
What's more, it can be an opportunity for students who are less academically able, but who are skilled in sports, to really celebrate their achievements, and receive some recognition from their classmates.
St. Stephen's School Chandigarh celebrated Annual Sports Day on 13th and 14th November. The day was filled with activities like March Past, Athletic Events, Team Sports, Drills and Dances, Award Distribution.The event began with an impressive March past followed by drill performances by Jupiter, Mars, Neptune and Saturn House that showcased synchronisation, precision, and perfection.
The students of classes 6 to 10 participated in various races, including 100m, 200m, hurdle race, obstacles race, and relay race. The events were a thrilling display of speed, agility, and teamwork.
The highlight of the event was a mesmerizing Yoga performance that showcased the students' flexibility and focus.
The closing ceremony featured a lively Bhangra that got everyone on their feet.
Mr. B. Ravi, Assistant General Manager heading Canara Bank Regional Office Chandigarh who was the Chief Guest of the event, addressed the gathering and congratulated the students on their performances.
A vote of thanks was delivered by Vice Principal Mr John Xavier, who appreciated the efforts of the students, teachers, and parents in making the event a success.
Overall, the School Sports Day was a resounding success, promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and a healthy competitive spirit among the students.
